We researched online and came across a unique question from someone that was planning a kitchen remodel. They asked people: What is your least favorite thing a year after your kitchen remodel.
As you can imagine, there were a variety of responses. What surprised us a bit was that many people also insisted on including their favorite thing as well. While everyone will have their own list of favorites and things they wished they had done differently, many times it seems it comes down to having a good designer help you make the right decisions.Here's a few ideas of what were the most popular responses:
Least Favorite Kitchen Remodeling Decisions
- Backsplash with a busy pattern they grew less fond of
- Not making sure that cabinets don't hit each other or appliances as they open (or the other way around.)
- Using can lighting in uneven intervals instead of task lighting and strip lighting under cabinets
- Not getting the microwave built in
- Stainless steel sink which always needs cleaning
- Single huge sink
- Kitchen designed that when the fridge is open, it blocks off access to the entire kitchen
- Pantry is too small
- Not enough storage for small appliances
- Squared edge counters and kids aren't a good combination

- Pot drawer
- Adding a lazy susan to a corner that was difficult to reach into
