The kitchen is one of the most popular rooms in the house. Your family and friends all seem to congregate there, and for good reason. As the saying goes, it's "the heart of your home", right?

So, of course, the kitchen is also one of the first things many homeowners are looking to renovate and transform into something that suits their style better than the previous owner's tastes.

2016 has been the start of some new kitchen design trends. What's popular now?

Here are a few of the kitchen design trends we're seeing in 2016.

Smart Kitchens

Homeowners are looking to incorporate tech into their kitchen remodeling project. Everything from convenience charging stations to touch activated faucets and smart appliances. Homeowners are getting the most out of their kitchens with these conveniences built in. Even state of the art appliances are requested more often, including built-in coffee machines, steam and convection ovens and built in wine coolers.

Roll Out Cabinets

Roll out cabinet pullouts and shelves give you easy access to items in the back of your cabinets. More rollouts are available all the time including butcher block knife organizers, coffee pod pull outs, and built in spice organizers. Even built in feeding stations that to hold pet food bowls that can be pulled out from lower drawers. These pullouts help to declutter your countertops and workspaces.

Clean Lines

Intricate patterns aren't as popular as they once were. Clean lines give kitchens a more modern, sleek look.

Complimentary Colors

The trend of matching cabinet colors has been replaced by kitchens in complementary colors instead. No more matching cabinets and hardware. Kitchen islands or countertops are often set apart as an accent in a darker or lighter color. Butcher block countertops are also seeing a surge in requests.
